The pamphlet entitled A Brief History of The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, by Steven M. Avella, 1999, describes the Cathedral thusly:

 

“Situated in the heart of downtown Sacramento, the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament is first and foremost a place for sacred encounter between God and humankind. It has been hallowed by the prayers of the faithful and the celebrations of momentous events in the life of the Catholic community.”
